The Assistive Technology is an international trade fair for people with disabilities or the need for care, showing the full range of technical tools for everyday life. It takes place every two years in Tampere and is the leading trade fair for the industry in Finland. The thematic focus of the exhibition are assistive devices, healthcare services and equipment, rehabilitation and therapies, housing and environment, wellbeing and support and information services. Exhibitors show products, technical equipment, solutions and recreation opportunities for people with disabilities and their families to ensure the smooth management of everyday life. In addition, the exhibition focuses on current issues and developments of the industry and informs during high quality seminars and information sessions on the latest trends. A highlight of the exhibition is the theme area Sports Plaza, which is organized by the Finnish Sports Federation of Persons with Disabilities (VAU). Here many sports and physical activities, hobby possibilities and ideas and devices around the disabled sports are shown. All visitors are invited to test them, to try new activities, to experiment with the products exhibited and so to be inspired for their own everyday life.
On the whole the organisers welcomed on the 3 days of the fair, from 07. November to 09. November 2013, about 200 exhibitors and 12500 visitors on the Assistive Technology in Tampere.
