south korean national flag known as tai chi flag (Korean: 태 극 기; Taegeukgi), rectangular in shape, with a ratio of 3:2. In the same year, the korean minister park yongxiao, who was on a mission to Japan, decided to remove the four hexagons after consultation with the british captain, and was selected as the national flag by the korean emperor gaozong in 1883. The republic of korea continued after its founding.
